MandyMikey - A family friend has been going here since childhood, and this year she and my sister took my brother, my son, and me. We tent camped there in July 2004.

Campground Review

This campground is located right in the middle of an old-growth grove of Redwoods, making it spectacularly beautiful. The campsites are very private, and there are bathrooms, showers, and water located near any of the campsites. The South Fork Eel River flows right through the grounds, and Benbow lake, which is free to campers, is only a two-mile drive away. There are also many gift shops along Highway 101 to stop at for shopping or even just for ice. Garberville is only 7 miles down Highway 101 and makes a nice day trip into town. On weekends the park holds Junior Ranger programs for the kiddies at the big group fire pit. There are also many trails to hike on and discover the redwoods for yourself or a self-guided educational trail. Even with everything to do around the grounds it is just as preferable to sit and marvel at the beauty of the forest around you.
