Cassie - I found this campground through their Web site, and I tent camped there in August 2004.

Campground Review

We spent five nights in Moraine Park, and we thought it was absolutely wonderful. It's the largest campground in the national park, but it's one of only two that take reservations. The sites are so spacious and private that you could hardly even tell there was anyone else there, let alone over 200 other sites. Quiet hours are respected in the evenings, and it was a beautiful time to sit by the fireplace, gaze at the tremendous amount of stars, and just enjoy the beauty of the Rockies without being distracted by anyone else. The first afternoon after we checked in a mule dear with a huge rack of antlers wandered right by the tent, and we saw several deer and a couple elk inside the campground during the week we were there. Our site didn't have the best view of the mountains, but other sites in the campground certainly did, and ours was set right near an aspen grove and nestled up against a small cliff, so there was a wide variety of scenery.

If you're camping here, be aware that there are flush toilets in the bathrooms. None of the campgrounds in the park have shower facilities, but they are easy to find in nearby Estes Park. Drinking water is readily available at the campground entrance and near the bathrooms, and the rangers are extremely friendly and eager to help.
