Malcolm - We found this campground using a camping guide for California and the Internet, and we tent camped there in July 2004.

Campground Review

The Big Bear area is very beautiful, and it is so close to southern California. It's a nice alternative to driving to Yosemite or Sequoia especially when you have small kids. We liked the camp sites too. They were big and shaded. The showers were nice and clean. The campground is close to the lake. The newer park ranger headquarters nearby offered summer programs at night for families. The Saturday night we attended there were Indian stories and dancing. It was definitely a special treat for the kids. We went into local downtown Big Bear for a great Italian dinner one night. We also spent two days playing at the local waterslide park in downtown Big Bear. We enjoyed Big Bear a lot and so did our two kids.
