the Canny family - We found out about this campground from family and friends, and we RV camped there in August 2004.
We can not say enough about this wonderful campground. It is located on the Blueridge Parkway halfway between Maggie Valley and Cherokee, NC. It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen in our many (30+) years of camping. Although it is exactly a mile high and located on the Blueridge, it is not a National Park campground but a private one on the Cherokee Indian Reservation. Its location makes it central to many attractions while giving you a wonderful haven from the traffic and noise.
The owner and the host have obviously worked hard to keep the campground family friendly and clean. Even our dog was welcome. They have a spacious group site where they welcome scouts and family and civic groups.
Most sites are wooded and secluded. Many have breathtaking views where you can sit by the fire and watch the sun rise or set with a spectacular show. Although there are no hook ups, you don't need them. There is fresh water readily available, clean hot showers/restrooms, and a dishwashing area located centrally in the campground. Even in August the temperature barely got above 70-75 degrees. Mornings and late evenings can be chilly so make sure to bring a jacket. Firewood is available on site. There is no doubt that our family will be frequent visitors to this wonderful campground.
