Kendra - I found out about this campground from friends. We only live about 20 minutes, away and a lot of local people go there. I camped there in September 2004.
Campground Review
Piney campground is located right on Kentucky Lake in the Land Between the Lakes Recreation Area. There are over 350 sites and many ammenties such as several playgrounds, a sandy beach area, many nice paved bike trails, a softball field, a volley ball court, and a basketball court. They have concerts usually only on the weekends for those who like music, and they have a great fishing pier.
To enter the park you have to check in at the gate so there are not many people coming and going, and visitors are not allowed after dark. So I felt very comfortable letting the kids go off riding their bikes. Being in Land Between the Lakes it also has other great amenities around the campground. There is an Elk and Bison prairie that you can drive through to see the animals. There's the Old Homeplace where they show how things were done in the olden days. There's a nature station with live animals and even a planetarium. We also love to go to a nearby spring-fed river to let the kids wade in. They have a blast. It is a great campground.
