Chris - I found this campground on the NPS Web site, and I tent camped there in April 2004.

Campground Review

We were pleasantly surprised to find a large site that easily accommodated two tents. There was much vegetation and large, drooping pines to shade us from the desert sun. April was probably the perfect time to camp in Death Valley because of lower temperatures during the day, but not freezing at night. The kids loved playing in and around the site. We were able to pull our vehicle into the site as well. The campground's location in the park was nearly perfect. We were able to easily drive to any location in a reasonable amount of time, from Scotty's Castle in the north to the Badwater Basin in the south central area of the park. The addition of a general store and gas station provided for additional needs. Camping at Furnace Creek was a truly memorable experience.
