Scott - I stumbled onto this campground when driving the dirt roads of the Chattahoochee National Forest. You can reach it by traveling north past Helen. It's a long drive up the mountain with several passing lanes. Once you get to the top you will see a dirt road that enters into the forest on the right. Follow this road for five miles. When you come to a point in the road that goes both right and left you're there. Turn right into the campground. I RV camped there in October 2004.
Campground Review
I think this is a great campground because it is in the middle of nowhere. It's about five miles from either direction that you enter the forest. Pulling a 20-foot long trailer is about the max. This campground is great for tents and popups. The campground has a small stocked trout river and a beautiful 120-foot waterfall that is only about a 100 yard hike on a flat level trail to the base. The campground has no running water. There is a community well where you can pump water. The only down side to this campground is that there is only port-a-potties, but they are clean and well-maintained. It's nice to get away and ruff it, and still nice enough for the entire family. The campground operated by the Forest Service.
