Campground Review

Some of my fondest childhood summer memories involve our family's trips to Port St. Joe in the 1980s. Some years we camped in tents, others in a pop-up camper, and twice in the well-appointed cabins. This is truly one of Florida's state park gems. I have camped in many state parks, and this is the premier in my mind. Over the years, I noticed development taking over Cape San Blas, however the park itself remains secluded and unspoiled. This is a great place for families who want to experience nature and togetherness during their vacations, avoiding the hassles and commercialism of the traditional theme park Florida vacation. A cabin stay would be the best in my opinion, if visiting in summer. As a kid I did not mind the summer heat or bugs, but as a teen I really appreciated the air-conditioning. Still the state park has nice camping facilities. I live too far from the park now, but I am looking forward to visiting again.
