Sara - My climbing guide suggested this campground, and I tent camped there in June 2005.

Campground Review

Davidson River Campground is within the Pisgah National Forest. The reservable sites are actually close together, but you can't see your neighbor because of dense shrubbery. The campground is clean and well patrolled. I felt safe. Note: there are no outlets in the bathrooms or at the campsites. The weather was great, and the water was cool. There was so much to do, we didn't get to do everything. Sliding Rock, a waterfall slide is nearby, and the Pisgah Cradle of Forestry center is there too. My daughter petted a trout and learned about fish. They put on great programs for kids and grownups. Elvis performed while we were there. You can rent a bicycle or go fly fishing, if you know how. We went rock climbing and rappelling with a guide from Fox. It was expensive but worth it. Make a reservation. There is a Methodist church on the campground, and the downtown of Brevard looks interesting. Next time we'll stay longer so we can visit these two places. Best of all, if you forgot anything, Wal-Mart is less than a mile away.
