Ken - I found this campground browsing through a Department of Natural Resources book published to promote Illinois state parks, and I RV camped there in May 2005.

Campground Review

I think this is a great campground because it is clean, quiet, and very relaxing. It is well maintained, and there are many places for handicapped access to the lake and other various amenities. The showers are very clean, the grounds are very level, and there are good roads throughout the entire park. Sites are spacious and well shaded. DNR presence is adequate for a sense of security. A short trip to Oakland is recommended to see the historic buildings. Other than that the park holds many scenic and interesting areas. I would highly recommend this campground.
