Annalisa - Misteltoe State Park is only about thirty minutes from Augusta, Georgia, where I grew up. I've made numerous trips here over the years, but this was my first time camping there. I tent camped there in April 2006.

Campground Review

Misteltoe is located on Lake Thurmond with most of the campsites offering great views of or access to the water. There are nature trails, playgrounds, beach areas, a small camp store at the entrance, and two convenience stores located close by. Its proximity to Augusta, Georgia makes it a great getaway experience without being too far removed, which is fantastic for a beginning camper like myself. I opted for site 55T - a really great, raised, fenced site with a nice view of the lake and easy access to two comfort stations. Speaking of the comfort stations, those are probably the only issue I had with the place. They seem to have inadequate ventilation, and if they are air conditioned, the air conditioning was not turned on during my visit. Overall though Misteltoe has a lot to offer.
