Wills - We found this campground driving by, and we tent camped here in May 2006.
Campground Review
After driving around Arkansas for 6 hours trying to find a campground with available space, we settled on this one. I had initially spurned the Bull Shoals area, since I'm not a bass fisherman or into waterskiing. I figured the crowd at the campgrounds around Bull Shoals would be more into motorboats. I was right, but we still had a nice time camping here.
Dam Site Park Campground is located on Bull Shoals Lake in north central Arkansas. It offers 35 sites with electric hook-ups. Additional amenities include hot showers (2 shower stalls - push button timer set up), flush toilets (2 stalls in the main bathhouse), an alternate bathhouse had no showers and no doors on the stalls, dump station, launch ramp, playground, basketball court, and picnic shelter. There is level terrain throughout the park.
I camped here with my family over Memorial Day Weekend 2006. The campground is small, which was nice. We drove through Lakeside campsite. It is huge and was a zoo with people running around. There were an equal number of tent campers and RV campers. The main bathhouse was kept pretty clean. All sites were shaded by trees - lots of trees. Don't forget your hammer for the tent stakes. If we had wanted to do most of our activities in Bull Shoals, this would have been an ideal location. However, we had planned to do most of our activities in Mountain View and on the Buffalo National River. Mountain View is about 1 1/2 hours to the south and all mountain driving. We were 1 hour to Wild Bill's Outfitters (south of Yellville), where we rented a kayak and drifted down the Buffalo National River all day (thumbs up, BTW). I would have been happier, if I hadn't had to spend as much time in my car getting to places, but that's what I get for not planning further in advance. I would camp here again, if I were planning on being in the Bull Shoals area for the majority of my vacation fun.
