Patsy - I found this campground in a review of state parks, and I RV camped there in June 2006.

Campground Review

We just stayed a week at Stone Mountain State Park. This park has just included water and electric sites, and they are top-notch, spacious, clean and level. The park staff are just super and helpful. The park has an excellent map of trails, both easy and strenuous to the mountain and to the historical sites. We have a small travel trailer (we're senior citizens), and we love to camp. There is abundant wildlife, and this is also a pet-friendly campground. It was cool and quiet at night, and there are no extra lights. They have new clean bathhouses. There are spaces for tents, trailers and large motor homes. If you do not want late night parties this is the place. The gates are locked at 9:00 p.m., and it is too far to hike to the campground. There is a spacious group camping area as well. A general store (two miles away) is a plus. They have great ice cream.
