Corene - I knew about this campground because I live in the area, and I tent camped there in Jube 2006.

Campground Review

This campground is in a beautiful area surrounded by the snow-capped Sierra's. It is cooler than the valley by about 20 degrees in the summer time. The John Muir trail head is about three miles walk on a paved road from the campsite. There are clean bathrooms, a fire pit with grill, and fresh drinking water. The campsites are large, and most are right in front of a rushing creek with big beautiful pine trees and aspens. Beautiful Big Pine creek is rushing during the summer. There are good fishing spots and hiking trails. At the very NW end of the road there are cabins available for about $80 per night and a small store that stocks all the essentials like ice, beer, food, etc. The camp hosts are friendly, and they have wood available for about $6 a bundle.
