We found out about this campground through the Enchanted Forest Water Safari amusement park. They are both owned by the same company. We tent camped there in July 2006.
Describe your camping trip:
Old Forge Camping Resort is a large former KOA Campground located in an Adirondack Mountain resort town. Our family stayed there for three nights over the 2006 Fourth of July holiday.
Pros: The campground had washers and dryers in the main lodge and a good camp store. The employees are friendly. The campground also offered free shuttle service back and forth from the July Fourth fireworks in Old Forge and discount tickets for water park.
Cons: We didn't have any choice about which campsite we had even through we made our reservation nearly a year in advance. They chose for us. What we got was the smallest campsite we ever had anywhere. It was so small, we had to put our gazebo right next to the front of our tent and leave off a screen wall. Plus, a steady stream of camp traffic constantly ran past our site. The street in front of our suburbian home has less traffic than this. It ruined the mood of the Adirondacks. If you want to enjoy the peace and quiet that the Adirondacks can offer, don't come here.
