I found out about this campground through an Internet search, and I tent camped there in June and July 2006.
Describe your camping trip:
The campsites are located down a fairly steep trail that can only be accessed on foot by campers. Keith will haul all your camping gear down the trail on a 4-wheeler for you so that you don't have to carry it down the trail. The campsites are relatively primitive, with a peeka (covered camping deck) and a fire-ring with grill at each creek-side campsite. Firewood is complimentary here, and Keith makes sure there is plenty cut daily for everyone. The campsites are spacious, private and very relaxing. The creek is cool and wonderful for taking it easy in, let the kids play, or just enjoy the sound of the water running by at night. The camp office has a few basic supplies to purchase in case you forgot or need anything. If they don't have it, town is only a little over a mile away, with Bluff Mountain Outfitters right in the heart of Hot Springs. There is plenty of white water rafting in the area, as well as Hot Springs Spa, where the warm waters of Hot Springs soothe away every ache and care, at least for a little while.
Pros: From the time you arrive at Creek Ridge, the owners treat you like family.
Cons: none
Cons: none
Nearby attractions: Close by there are plenty of activities besides rafting, including Mount Mitchell, Linville Caverns, Linville Falls, and Transylvania County, the Land of the Waterfalls.
Further comments:
Creek Ridge is a great campground, well worth the time to travel and a jewel to stay at. Keith and Melissa are the best hosts you could ask for, and they make you feel like family from the moment you arrive.
