I found out about this campground on the NY State DEC Web site, and I tent camped there in July 2006.
Describe your camping trip:
As a somewhat picky camper, I was a little skeptical about picking a campground based solely off of pictures on the Web site. Boy, did I get lucky. Lake Durant is gorgeous. The campsites are huge, wooded and quite private. The campground is clean and very well-maintained. Bathrooms are nothing spectacular, but better than most campgrounds I have been to. One shower facility is available. I would recommend showering in the afternoon or evening, as they get a little busy in the morning. A reservation is definitely required through ReserveAmerica, as there are only about 60 sites in the campground. If you can get one, try to reserve one on the water. Hiking and horseback riding is definitely available, and the canoe rental guy will deliver a canoe directly to your campsite in the morning, if you want one. The majority of campers are tent campers, but there were a few RVs.
Pros: the campground is situated right on the edge of beautiful, peaceful Lake Durant.

Overall, an awesome camping experience - definitely worth a visit.
