Button Bay State Park, Vergennes, Vermont

Campground Review from Bill Pearce

About.com Rating five out of Five

By David Sweet, About.com

I found out about this campground from Vermont state maps, and I tent camped there in June 1976 and July 1999.

Describe your camping trip:

Button Bay is very quiet, it's off the main drag, anf it's clean. It was very new in 1976. Mature trees obscure the lake view now, but it's better shelter from storm winds off the lake. It was wide open in 1976. There are canoe rentals, and they have good restrooms.
Pros: Lake Champlain frontage.

Cons: none
Nearby attractions: Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, Crown Point, Chimney Point, Fort Ticonderoga, Shelburne Museum

Further comments:

There is a grass camping area, which was great for tents because it did not have cramped sites.
