I found out about this campground on the Florida state parks Web site, and I RV camped there in October 2006.

Describe your camping trip:

The campground has very spacious sites with crushed gravel, a fire pit, a BBQ grill and a picnic table. All sites offer water and electricity, but be sure to check for the electrical hook up at your site (sites are either 50 amp or 30 amp, not both). The bathroom facilities were immaculate and very new. They even thought of the little ones, as they provide baby changing stations in both the men and women's restrooms. Showers were large in size, and water was nice and warm. Camping sites were separated by lots of natural Florida vegetation and large tall pines.
Pros: Great for family camping and group camping. It was great having the luxury of both a fire pit and a BBQ grill.

Cons: The only questionable thing I found was that you must pay for wood ($5.00 per 10 pieces of wood), and although the wood was cut and ready for fire, the pieces were small and burned quickly.
Nearby attractions: Silver Springs Park (open year-round) and Wild Waters Waterpark (open April to September)

Further comments:

Lots to do here, I would suggest bikes and good walking shoes, since there are plenty of trails that lead to the river, a sinkhole and a spring. Some trails are for bikes and some are for walking with beautiful decking.
