I found out about this campground online, and I RV camped there in July 2006.

Describe your camping trip:

My family and I had not been to the park for about 3-4 years. What a shock! The park is terrible now - trees cut down, huge potholes in the street (we almost lost our trailer), the pull-throughs in Poplar area look like a small parking lot, the lakes are dirty, the tap water tastes awful, the bathrooms are filthy and there were two thefts while we were there. When it rained, most of the lots became just huge ponds. Our tents were almost floating. We won't even talk about the mosquitoes. Talk about West Nile virus. What a letdown. We'll never go back.
Pros: The lots are big enough to hold a big trailer, tent and kitchen tent. It is close to Sudbury and the emergency clinic.

Cons: The lakes were dirty with used condoms, diapers, garbage and food. My son got a rusty fish hook stuck in his foot at the swimming beach. The bathrooms and showers were disgusting. I walked in to find a huge pile of feces on the floor. It stayed like that for three days. No one ever washed the floor. Disgusting. There has been West Nile Virus isolated within 20 km, and they don't do anything to kill off mosquitoes. While we were there, several people came down with severe diarrhea, most likely from the tap water.
Nearby attractions: Sudbury - Science North is great.

Further comments:

I used to love Grundy, but the place has deteriorated badly. It's a shame, because it was such a beautiful park before, but now it's "ghetto" - theft, garbage everywhere, noisy, unkept. Makes you wonder where the park fees are going.

Beautiful ParkJuly 30, 2009By spencercamp
"We just returned from a trip to Grundy Lake Provincial Park and loved it! We occupied lot 552 in the White Pine camp ground. This spot was quite good with a decent amount of privacy. More importantly, the site was very close to the beach and the comfort station. The beach was very clean and family friendly. Water on the lake was clear and warm enough for swimming (even in the evening). The lakes are perfect for exploring. We paddled out in a canoe and found a lovely little private fishing spots and swimming locations. The scenery was perfection. The park is beautiful. Comfort stations were clean. They got a little messy and smelly in the late evening but by the time we used them in the morning they were clean. CONS: There were only 2 negative things I can think of to mention (both out of control of the park). There was a constant hum from the traffic on Highway 69 and since it is on the trans-Canada highway and rail route we heard several trains throughout the night. The second negative is the mosquitos!!!! Yikes! This was probably due to the wet summer we have had in 2009. I would highly recommend this park and we will return. The scenery is incredible!"
