I found out about this campground on the Internet, and I tent camped there in April 2007.
Describe your camping trip:
The campground has about 80 sites. There are no water or electric hookups, but it can be used by RVs. It has a dump station and good roads. There is water available close to all sites, clean restrooms and showers, nice swimming and picnic area, and a good place to ride bicycles or walk. There is also a boat ramp. All campsites have table, fireplace and lantern post with level pea gravel pad to set up tent on. You can choose from three different loops to camp. It is usually not crowded except for holidays. At other times, you may be the only camper there except for the campground hosts.(there are host's on 2 of 3 loops).
Pros: Clean, not crowded, and good roads. Patrolled by forest service and county police.
Cons: Somewhat old. Only a few sites with view of the lake. No playground for children.
Cons: Somewhat old. Only a few sites with view of the lake. No playground for children.
Nearby attractions: Sipsey Wilderness Area, a 25,000 acre hiking and camping area about 25 minutes away.
Further comments:
I have been camping here for 5 years and have always enjoyed it. Only had one bad experience with roudy neighbors, and it was handled well by management.
