Campground Review from momcamps

About.com Rating two out of Five

By David Sweet, About.com

I found out about this campground in a visitor's guide, and I RV camped there in June 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

We had a large site right on the American River, where the gold rush started.
Pros: Location right on river.

Cons: Pool was freezing. No hot tub. Rules indicated quiet time started at 10 pm, but loud noises heard all nights until at least midnight. Bathrooms not maintained properly, only cleaned once per day in morning. Facilities consisted of ice cold pool, farm (two goats), tiny playground and climbing equipment. Other than that, there was absolutely nothing to do. No TV, cell or Internet either. Also, no sewer hook up on river.
Nearby attractions: Gold rush historic significance.

Further comments:

Entrance gate a pain. Had to manually open and then close behind you this extremely large gate every time we wanted to leave.
