Dellanera RV Park, Galveston, Texas

Campground Review from MW Parker

About.com Rating one out of Five

By David Sweet, About.com

This campground was recommended by a relative, and I RV camped there in June 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

The park is not very organized, and it has very little security. The sites are so close together that your slideouts are on top of the neighbor's picnic table. The playground equipment is rusty, and it has sharp edges all over the place. There is vandalism and no adherence to the established rules. Teenagers roaming through the park cheese whizzing doors, liquid soaping steps and stuffing shrimp down the fresh water holding tank. The beach was dirty and cluttered with trash.
Pros: Convenient to Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn and downtown area of Galveston Island.

Cons: Read above description of camping trip. Reservations were screwed up. Assigned places were already taken. Adjoining sites had sewers backed up. Overall terrible experience with this park.
Nearby attractions: Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn, Beach.

Further comments:

Another 4 miles down the road there is a state park with security, large RV spaces and clean beaches. However they were booked up for two months. I will never stay at Dellanera RV Park again. I will try to make reservations at the state park early.
