A friend told my about this campground, and I RV camped there in July 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

This is a family oriented campground. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing.
Pros: Rustic enough to detach you from civilization, but with the amenities necessary to remain civilized.

Cons: I had to eventually go home.
Nearby attractions: Various farm animals on location for the kids to enjoy. Trout fishing is just a cast from your riverfront site. A hiking trail on state land that adjoins the campground, leads to a neat little waterfall. If you get the hankering, pizza and Chinese food are just a ten minute ride away.

Further comments:

I've been camping at this campground for the past 15+ years. I started out tenting and now have a travel trailer there. I consider it my great escape. Having been involved in Scouting and camping for the last 34 years, I have been to a few places in my time. This is one I keep returning to.

Our Tent Site Was Right on the Willowemoc RiverAugust 11, 2009By CatskillCamper
"We stayed there last week, what an awesome campground. We had a walk in site on the Island. This site was so secluded that you didn't see anyone else. You really felt like you were camping in the back country. We were right on the Willowemoc River and I mean right on it. There was a nice deep spot in the river there that was great to swim in. The water was cold though. Fishing was good, lots of trout there. We also went fishing over at the Beaverkill, but we liked the Willowemoc river better. The woman who runs the office and store is really helpful. She suggested we walk up to the waterfall which is right over the bridge. You should do this, it's a great hike and the waterfall is beautiful. You can go behind it, which was fun to do. She gave us other great hiking ideas and driving directions. The store is small but well stocked. The bathrooms were kept clean. We liked the campground, it's a back to nature atmosphere. We really wanted to avoid an RV park with bingo and stuff like that. They even have a small farm yard with all types of animals. The kids got to pet goats and feed the chickens. The owner even caught one of the really big bunnies they have so our daughter could pet it. We have camped alot in the Catskills, but this is the best campground yet. We will definitely camp here again."
