I found out about this campground from my father's best friend, and I tent camped there 1960-1975 then 2000-2005.

Describe your camping trip:

I remember many years camping with my family at Elkmont. We walked to Little River Trail in the early morning, and daddy would say he could see the vail of god's house hidden in the trees. He would talk about the wisdom fire that still burned there. His spirit still walks there to this day, and now my son and I walk and share all my sweet memories of summers in the cool mountain mist. If there is a heaven on earth, the trail leads in form Elkmont.
Pros: Quite cool waters in the mountain streams. A short ride to many hiking trails and attractions.

Cons: none
Nearby attractions: Chimney Tops, Cades Cove, Pigeon Forge and Townsend are all close by.

Further comments:

We camped here each summer, sometimes two or three times, and each time I would cry when we had to leave the cool quiet and return to the hot city of Atlanta. Anyone seeking nature's bounty and a cool place to relax in the heat of the summer should camp here.
