I found out about this campground online, and I tent camped there in August 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

Absolutely beautiful and tons to do. Of note: a beautiful, well-stocked lake with a pristine beach and swimming area, paved bike path around the lake. Excellent marked hiking trails ranging from easy to challenging. The cleanest bathrooms and showers I have ever seen at a campground. I brought my seven year old and another father/son for my third trip there.
Pros: The camp store is excellent as well. Well-stocked, they even sell pizza, hot dogs and ice cream apart from the usual supplies.

Cons: Careful in the late summer, this area is highly susceptible to heavy rain and thunder/lightening, because it essentially sits in a valley between mountains.
Nearby attractions: Tuscarora State Park, which has great fishing and swimming, is only six miles away. There is a beautiful golf course one mile from Locust Lake.

Further comments:

For a family campsite in the northeast, you will find little that beats this. Reserve far in advance for a lakefront site.
