The visitor center in Silverton, Colorado recommended this campground, and I tent camped there in June 2005.
Describe your camping trip:
I camped two nights in a beautiful setting of Colorado forest and mountains. The campground is in a valley surrounded by mountains with a stream running through it. Campsites are situated far enough apart to feel secluded. Mine was right next to the stream. First night there, I sat in front of a perfect campfire while someone a few sites over played a violin.
Pros: Beautiful setting, stream with waterfalls nearby, hiking trails, 4x4 roads, scenic mountain roads, friendly campground hosts and only $12.00 a night.
Cons: none
Cons: none
Nearby attractions: Silverton, Colorado is a historic mining town with lots of neat shops and restaurants only a few miles away. Also the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad stops there during spring and summer months.
Further comments:
I am looking forward to going back again soon.
