This campground was referred by a friend, and I tent camped there in September 2007.
Describe your camping trip:
I was really hoping to find a good camping destination in Illinois. As a resident of the state, I was really hoping that Kickapoo would be it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Interstate 74 runs through the north section of the park. The traffic noise is very loud at night.
Pros: The state park is clean, spacious and well-maintained. There are plenty of trails and opportunities for outdoor activities.
Cons: The noise from the interstate is very loud at night. In addition, the rest facilities seemed inadequate. There are only two shower houses (a total of 8 shower stalls) for 184 campsites.

Further comments:
I think Kickapoo State Park is an excellent destination for a day trip, but, regretfully, I would not recommend it as an overnight camping excursion.
