Cherrystone Campground, Cheriton, Virginia

Campground Review from Heidi

About.com Rating five out of Five

By David Sweet, About.com

I found out about this campground on the Internet, and I RV camped there in September 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

My husband and I took our 7 children to Cherrystone in September of 2007. Because we chose to camp after Labor Day, we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. Even though the pools were closed, the kids had a great time. This campground has so much to do - mini-golf, tennis, volleyball, pedal boats, fishing, and the kids thought it had the coolest playground they had ever been to. The campground was clean and well kept, and the staff was exceptionally friendly. This campground is large with 700+ sites and cabins.
Pros: Friendly helpful staff, very clean, lots of things to do, very kid friendly.

Cons: The only con was the price. It cost us $55 a night for a site with water, electric and sewer. The rates are based on two people. They charge $5 extra for each additional person aged 6 and over.
Nearby attractions: Kiptopeke State Park

Further comments:

I don't like crowded campgrounds, so it's not the kind of place I would visit in the summer, but in September it was perfect.
