Campground Review from Heidi

About.com Rating five out of Five

By David Sweet, About.com

I live near this campground, and I RV camped there in September 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

My husband and I and our 7 children stayed at this campground in September of 2007. Although I have lived fairly close and have visited Smith Mountain Lake State Park several times, this was my first time staying at the campground. Although this was the third campground our family visited in a week's time, I really didn't want to leave. I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice this campground was. The restrooms and showers were very clean, the campsites were perfect, and the scenery was gorgeous. Loved it! Smith Mountain Lake State Park offers many miles of beautiful hiking trails, fishing, boating, swimming at the beach in the summertime, and just plain awesome scenery to look at. This campground is only an hour drive from our house, so we plan to camp here more often.
Pros: Clean, quiet, beautiful, relaxing.

Cons: This campground doesn't have sewer hook-ups, but does have a dump.

Further comments:

For me, this was as close to a perfect campground as I have found.
