Campground Review from Lisa

Guide Rating - rating
I happened across this campground while driving to work, and then I looked it up on the Internet. I camped there in May 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

This is a free campground. It is situated on the south fork of the Snake River, so it is a fishing and boating area. There is a boat ramp. This fork of the river does go dry in the off season, and it is used during this time by off roaders or pass through campers. Also used during hunting season. There are vault restrooms and picnic areas. There are sites good for tents and RVs.
Pros: Its a relatively quiet park with wildlife. There is no fee for camping. We were trying out a camp trailer we had just purchased, so we camped here because it was close to home and not too far away from a small town, if we needed something. This is a great stopover campsite, if you're passing through. There are some rough trails through the woods, and our dog loved it. Pets are allowed as long as they don't bother other campers and proper pet etiquette is observed. Running at large is never a good idea.

Cons: We were there on the Memorial Day weekend, so it was a bit hectic. We left early because of the late night noise. The area is patrolled during the day, but we saw no patrol cars in the evening. The ruckus was from one campsite, and I have heard this is not the norm. The campgrounds get a bit messy after holidays.
Nearby attractions: Bear World, Riot Zone (small amusement park), larger towns like Rexburg and Idaho Falls. Heise hot springs and resort. Rigby Lake swimming and campgrounds.

Further comments:

I would rate this campground a 2 on holidays and a 3-4 on the off days. I would camp here again in the off seasons.
