Campground Review from Bob Perry

Guide Rating - rating
I found out about this campground in the Maine camping book put out by the state. I camped there in August 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

They had a camp store, and it was next to the desert of Maine, which was great. The tour is worth taking.
Pros: The tour through the desert.

Cons: The campsites were very small, irregular shaped and very close to one another. Bathrooms were not kept clean. There were no rules on quiet time. When it came to the many dogs that barked half into the night, the people that ran the park were not too friendly. A few of the campsites were hard to get to. One camper had to carry all their stuff down a hill and go through another campsite to get to the one he rented. There weren't any roads leading up to it. All sand. The only grass was around the very small above ground swimming pool that had green water.
Nearby attractions: Freeport Maine shopping, LL Bean, Old Orchard Beach, supermarkets and plenty of good restaurants.

Further comments:

I would not camp there again for a vacation nor for a night. Maybe if I was a tent camper and I was passing through only.
