Cherrystone Campground, Cheriton, Virginia

Campground Review from Shea

About.com Rating one out of Five

By David Sweet, About.com

I found out about this campground from friends, and I tent camped there in October 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

For 3 years my friends, family and myself have been camping at Cherrystone. I guess you could call it our ritual. My husband and some of my friends rented two sites, side by side. When making the reservations, we paid for 12 people, and no one told us how many tents were allowed on each site. In the morning someone, who worked at the campground came over and told us we had too many tents on our site and was very rude. We went into the office to talk to the General Manager to see what we could work out. We suggested paying for another site, and he refused. The manager said we were ignorant and he didn't want our kind there, and then told us we had an hour to pack up and leave or he would call the police. So after being degraded and getting very upset that our weekend was cut short, we went back to our site to pack up. After only 30-40 minutes, the manager shows up with a police officer and a sheriff to sit and watch us pack. He refused to give us our money back.
Pros: none

Cons: The staff is very rude.
