Campground Review from Joe

About.com Rating five out of Five

By David Sweet, About.com

I have been camping at this campground for years, and tent camped there in July 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

The campgrounds were very clean, and the shower house was very nice. The new owners did a revamp and replaced the sinks and painted the insides (no more dingy showers). The new sites put in were very nice. We stayed at a site close to the river, and it was a very nice stay.
Pros: The showers were hot (hotter than other years, so they must have added some new water heaters). The new owners and staff are very nice people. They did everything necessary to make our stay near perfect.

Cons: There was some rain the weekend I was there, and like past years the rain water backed up into the campground. I was told by the new owners that they were going to be fixing this in the next few years. Lack of grass. Maybe when they fix the rain water backup problem then the grass will grow, but also when you have as many people on the grass walking and driving as a campground does, I am sure it is hard to keep the grass alive. They do not have a trash dumpster down in the tent camping area, but when we explained that we didnt have room in our car and asked nicely, Kevin the owners nephew was more than happy to come get our trash bags and bring them up for us.
Nearby attractions: This campground has a very nice store onsite that has just about everything you would need, and there are restaurants just a short drive/walk from the campground. They also have float trips available to all campers right onsite.
Further comments: I would recommend this campground to all who wish to have a good time. They have a quiet time at 11pm that is very well enforced so you can sleep at night, and although they do have a $10 cleaning deposit I can understand why. Some of the sites I saw as I was leaving were a mess. I dont envy the staff to have to clean up after some people. This campground is on its way to becoming a great place. The new owner is not afraid to fix things and make changes. Give them a few years, and it will be like staying at a resort.
