I had visited Zion previously, and I RV camped there in April 2008.

Describe your camping trip:

Zion is one of our favorite national parks. It is a great place to camp with numerous hiking trails and magnificent scenery, including impressive geological formations and the Virgin River, which helped carve Zion Canyon. The campground is along the Virgin River near the Zion Canyon entrance. Only shuttle buses are permitted in the canyon, and the campground is a short walk to the shuttle stop and Visitor Center.
Pros: The campsites are reservable and necessary during late spring, summer and early fall.

Cons: Crowded area during the summer and most weekends.
Nearby attractions: St. George, Utah - shopping and restaurants. The tunnels road to the east of Zion has fewer visitors and areas of uncrowded exploring.
Further comments: Suggest reserving site away from the highway due to traffic noise.
