I found out about this campground on Michigan.gov, and I RV camped there in July 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

Large sites, good bug control. A very active group of volunteers that organize family activities.
Pros: Beautiful beach area, large clean sites, well maintained park.

Cons: Last summer the power went out at the campground. The rangers literally took turns resetting the power supply and worked through the night to keep up power.

Hickory Loop, Member mklumper

This is an excellent campground, especially if you are able to stay in the Hickory Loop (In my opinion spot #134 was the best). I felt very secluded and close to trails. Most of the spots in the hickory loop are shaded and in the trees. There were a ton of mosquitoes and curious raccoons...but nothing that I didn't expect when I go camping. You can't walk to go swimming since you can't swim in McGinnis Lake--you have to drive to Lake Heron. The trails were lots of fun, easy to get to, and easy to walk.
