I found out about this campground on the Internet, and I tent camped there in October 2007.
Describe your camping trip:
The campground is very well maintained. Security gate entrance gives peace of mind. Nice bathrooms and showers. Campground store is loaded with anything you might need for food or camping supplies. Very friendly staff. I have camped here 4 or 5 times. I recommend sites along the Saco River as they are more secluded. Web site is very informative and also details each campsite on size of tent, number of people per site, parking, with photo of each site. Swimming hole.
Pros: Privacy, for the most part a lot of space between tent sites, quiet, family oriented, relaxing, friendly people, good starting point for many hikes in the area including short trails in the campground itself along the river. Wildlife, took pictures of bull moose in campground. Beaver dams. Overall, best campground in New Hampshire for a camping experience.
Cons: This campground does not have an indoor recreation room or other things of this nature for kids, but that is not what this campground is about.
Nearby attractions: Hiking galore. Crawford Notch State Park, Arethra Falls, Frankenstein Cliffs, Cog Railway, Mount Washington Hotel, and the AT.
Further comments: Crawford Path trail has awesome 360 degree view at top. Best place for the campground experience.
