I found out about this campground on the Web, and I tent camped there in May 2008.

Describe your camping trip:

This is a small campground with only 27 first come, first serve campsites. It is off the beaten path in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You actually enter on a gravel road. This is a very secluded area that has an old school, church, graveyards, houses and barns from the early 1900s. Elk have been reintroduced to this area, and we saw 15 along with lots of wild turkeys.
Pros: This campground is next to a beautiful little creek. It is a beautiful, secluded, peaceful area. There are flush toilets only (no hot water or showers). They were clean and well maintained. Campsites are a good size and level.

Cons: It is a long ways in, if there are no available spots. Try to arrive early in the day and have a backup plan. There are several campgrounds in nearby Maggie Valley.
Nearby attractions: Maggie Valley, Cherokee Indian Reservation, Cataloochee Ski Resort.
