I found out about this campground on the Internet, and I cabin camped there in September 2008.

Describe your camping trip:

We planned months in advance to go to nearby Skirmish Paintball and make a weekend camping trip out of it. Jim Thorpe Camping Resort happened to be the closest campground to the paintball course. The pictures posted on their Web site do not do the site justice as to how terribly unkept it actually is. The roadways are so narrow and overgrown that I could not drive my Chevy Aveo hatchback down without having tree branches scratching across it the entire time. The cabins were nothing more than unfinished sheds with shoddy and exposed electric lines running through.
Pros: The only positive I can mention about this site is its close proximity to the paintball course and other attractions in beautiful Jim Thorpe.

Cons: I could go on and on about what I consider a con about this place, but bottom line is that the manager running this site is a scammer. We paid months in advance for a full weekend at this place. Within an hour of being there, before we even had everything unpacked, we ran into problems with this guy. He kept complaining about the excessive noise we were producing early in the afternoon. Twice he came down and complained about the volume of our cheap boombox, which was set at a volume of 3 (it goes up to 20). After the second time, we told the guy, we did not want any problems, we simply wanted to know how loud was too loud. He told us we had to get out and he called the police on us. We were able to negotiate being able to stay the night, so we would not have to miss our paintball game the next day. The next day we were thrown out, along with several other campers at various other sites. Of course, none of us or the other campers thrown out were given a refund for the second night they paid for. In the end, I feel that the man running this place was trying to make a few extra bucks by not refunding us for the next night, because as we were packing our things we found that he already had new campers ready to move into our site as well as the other sites that were evicted with us. We'll see this man in civil court.
Nearby attractions: Skirmish Paintball, several trails, whitewater rafting, and all of the other sites in beautiful Jim Thorpe.
Further comments: I've been an avid camper for several years and been to sites all over Pennsylvania and surrounding states. I've never heard I was being too loud at any campground before, ever. I do not feel we were being excessively noisy or that we were in violation of the contract we had signed. It's terrible that because of this rude manager a simple weekend campout has now turned into a future court date to get our money refunded. If you are visiting Jim Thorpe, save yourself some money and camp in your car. If you want a nice campsite, find a place a little further and just drive a little more. Even in these hard times and high gas prices, it's worth the extra drive to not go to this place.

NOT A RESORT FOR RVSAugust 25, 2009By sadoyle
"people were extremely nice. THE SITES WERE TERRIBLE. Unleveled, we were not able to level our RV. We had 4 other RVers with us and they all had the same problem. If it were not for the fact the 2 other RVs cancelled out we would not of had any place to park our vehicles. the sites and the lanes,(paths) are extremely tight. While we were there another camper had to unhitch and and tractor had to get there camper out of a very tight spot. DO NOT TAKE A CAMPER/RV ANY BIGGER THEN A AVERAGE SIZE POP-UP TO THIS PLACE."
