I found out about this campground on a forest map, and I tent camped there in September 2008.

Describe your camping trip:

Located less than 1/4 mile from the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Indian Hollow sits in a small moraine and is also a staging area for Thunder Trail in Grand Canyon National Park (at the rim). The campground is spacious, has the new vault toilets (no smell) but not water. You can gather dead and down fire wood in Kaibab National Forest. The sunsets take your breath away, and the night sky is amazingly bright with stars. You can read by starlight.
Pros: The spaces are spacious. One of them holds a group of 10 people easily and separated from each other for privacy. Access is on well-graded, graveled and marked roads.

Cons: It's a long way from anywhere and more than an hour drive to the actual North Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park. There are no reservations and only three spaces.
Nearby attractions: Grand Canyon National Park (North Rim), Vermilion Cliffs/Pariah Canyon Wilderness, Pipe Springs National Monument, Lake Powell, Marble Canyon, Pink Coral Sands State Park (Utah).
Further comments: If you like semi-primitive camping, this is a great location. Lots to see, no crowds and beautiful scenery.
