I found out about this campground from friends, and I RV camped there in October and November 2008.

Describe your camping trip:

The camping here fills up quickly during the summer as they don't take reservations. We got there on a Thursday and got right in. They have a dump station, water/electric and the people that run it are just the best.
Pros: $10 a night for county residents. Firewood for sale, trails to walk on, and a couple of lakes for fishing. A very quiet campground.

Cons: No showers, but that may change in 2009 as they are going to double the RV sites. Next to a train track, but very little traffic.
Nearby attractions: Elgin, Illinois and all it has to offer.
Further comments: We fell in love with this place, and we live in Elgin.

Pleasant and Quiet....June 24, 2009By MrsRFDrews
"We have stayed here many times and always include it in our lists of places to stay in our travels every year. This year, the prices have been increased...$15 for Kane County residents....$25 for non... It's still not a bad price, in my opinion, as alot of other state and private campgrounds have increased as well. It is still very well maintained, and the Attendants are ALWAYS very friendly and informative. The County is in the process of adding 50+ more sites within the next year. No reservations are taken. The campground fills up very fast~especially on Holiday weekends. Not much for kids to do, but there are plenty of hiking trails and space to ride bikes. Double check the internet for places of interest, as many listed on here have closed."
