I found out about this campground from my sister, and I tent camped there in May 2009.
Describe your camping trip:
The campground is very pretty. The spaces are large and some are right on the lake. We met my sister and her family there and everyone had a great time playing in the water etc. Our site was very shady and had plenty of room for 3 tents.
Pros: If you are in an RV, it would be just about the perfect campground. Level long drive ways to park the mondo large RVs on. They have nice beach areas and lots of boat ramps too.
Cons: No rule enforcement of any kind. People were hooting and hollering all night long, blasting music and turning on headlights so they could see to put up their tents or to party. That would be less of a problem for folks in RVs as they can go inside and shut the door. Also, there were so many cars on each site that there is no way an RV rig could have made it around the loop Saturday. Even though they post rules saying 2 cars per site, some had 6 or more vehicles plus boats and trailers. Also, the lady running the front gate was flustered at best, causing entrance to be quite the ordeal. Oh, one more thing. There was a lot of trash in the lake and in the campsite.

Nearby attractions: Joe Pool Lake, Dallas, Arlington.
Further comments: I probably won't go back to Loyd Park, since I am a tent camper and like to sleep at night. Cedar Hill State park is right across the lake. I've always thought they were kind of strict, but now I get it.
