We found this campground when looking for a waterfall, and we tent camped there in July 2009.

Describe your camping trip:

What an unknown gem! After going to 2 other campgrounds further into the Blue Ridge Mountains that were full, we remembered Curtis Creek Campground. It has vault toilets, so it was never a first choice. We wanted to camp, so we decided to grin and bear it. I am so glad we went. The bathroom I used did not smell. It is mostly for tents though smaller RVs and trailers will fit. No hook ups and only 2 pumps for running water including none in bathrooms. Right on Curtis Creek, and all sites can hear the creek.
Pros: $5 a night! Very peaceful, not many camp there, creek to play in.

Cons: Forestry road is well traveled in the day. Only 2 water pumps, no water in bathrooms.
Nearby attractions: Blue Ridge Parkway, Black Mountain, Mt. Mitchell.
Further comments: I would have rated it higher, but more water spigots would be helpful. I will definitely go back!
