We have known of this campground for years after reading about Texas state parks. We RV camped there in September 2009.

Describe your camping trip:

We stayed in Honea Flat camping area. The sites are roomy and very private with dense trees in between most campsites. Nice covered picnic tables, fire rings and paved level parking. Nice playground and cement walks to facilities. The sites of the canyon are awesome. We hiked Canyon Rim Trail. We saw quite a few deer. We also attempted Upper Canyon Trail to the overlook, but they really meant steep and rough! Walking in the canyon was quiet and cool. The red walls of the canyon and all the rock formations provide a lot of great photo ops.
Pros: We enjoyed the peace, the deer and the clean large campsite.

Cons: none
Nearby attractions: Palo Duro Canyon.
Further comments: We must go back when the cactus are in bloom.
