The Bottom Line

A footprint is a great accessory for your tent. It helps protect your tent floor from tears and abrasions, and it adds a moisture barrier between your tent and the ground.

Guide Review - Kelty Trail Dome 4 Footprint

A footprint is a ground cloth made to fit specific tents. These are made a little smaller than your tent floor, so water won't collect between your tent and the footprint. If you cannot find a footprint for your tent, a ground cloth or tarp will do, just be sure to tuck the edges under the tent. A footprint, ground cloth or tarp is a good investment that will help prolong the life of your tent. The footprint for my Kelty Trail Dome 4 had a stake loop, pole grommet, and fly clip in each corner. It fit correctly beneath my tent, and it folded compactly into its own mesh storage sack.
