Guide Review - Panther Vision PowerCap LED Lighted Hats

Panther Vision kindly sent me 4 caps to try out on vacation. I gave 3 away to friends to get their opinions. Everyone agreed that the caps were soft and comfortable. The added weight of the batteries and electronics was negligible. My wife really liked using it to read in bed at night. With the 2 under brim LEDS on, she had light focused on her book, and it didn't bother me at all. She also wore it for her nightly walks. She said it worked well for lighting up the path in front of her. My camping friend said they would be great for when he had to get up at night and go to the bathroom without stumbling on stuff. My first thought was to use these when night fishing. No need to use a lantern when I need to get into the tackle box or bait my hook. Just turn on my cap. We all came up with several other uses for the hat when one needed hands-free focused lighting: hunting, working on the car, replacing a blown fuse, hiking at night, etc.

One day we wore them into the tackle shop, where they also sell many hats, and my friend had his on. He showed it to the shop owners, who thought it was cool and that they didn't have those. They agreed that they would be great for night fishing.

All 4 of us who tried them, liked them, and the common reaction from folks who saw them was: "Wow, that's neat!"

Wendy, About's Walking Guide, reviewed the Panther Vision PowerCap too. She said that she "had to find some dark to give it a good try-out!" Her conclusion: "For walkers and runners, the under-brim lights will better illuminate where your foot will be striking."
