Guide Review - Coghlan's Micro Lantern
In a word, Coghlan's Micro Lantern is neat. It is indeed small and lightweight. It's a solid little light that you can stow just about anywhere. It has a spring clip that allows you to suspend the light from a pack or tent loop. The clip is somewhat stiff to operate, but then it's not going to open by accident. The Micro Lantern will run for about 25 hours on 2 3-volt Lithium batteries, and it uses an LED bulb that never needs replacing and never gets hot. It illuminates a 6-foot diameter area, just right for hanging inside a tent. It also flashes and will do so for up to 50 hours on new batteries. O-rings help make this light water resistant, but I wouldn't immerse it.
Like to read in your tent? Here's your light. Ever do any night fishing? Keep one of these in your tackle box. Going light-weight for a backpacking trip? Take a Micro Lantern or two. Need a map light for your car? Put one of these in the glove box. I can think of lights of uses for this neat little light. Cheap for under $10. You can find Coghlan's products at most sporting goods stores.
