Guide Review - S'mores - Gourmet Treats for Every Occasion
Lisa Adam's love for camping, writing and eating sweets has resulted in a delectable book called "S'mores - Gourmet Treats for Every Occasion." Lisa says:
"I have camped all my life. I went several times a year as a child, but our favorite time each year was Memorial Day weekend, when we'd go with all our family friends to the same campground in the Sierra Nevadas. My parents and their friends had started this tradition back in high school, and it still exists to this day! In fact, this book was born there four years ago, when a friend of mine decided casually to try out a s'more with a Reese's peanut butter cup in it. We all loved the variation, and that got me thinking of a ton of ways to expand the concept of the s'more. About a year later, I seriously started creating the recipes and writing the book - and naturally I tested out a lot of the recipes with my friends and family at that campsite over the next few years. I can't wait to get back there and relax in the woods! It is my favorite place in the world, and I truly wouldn't be the same person if I hadn't grown up camping.Lisa's book answers the questions: "what is a s'more?" and "how do you make them?" She gives many tips about choosing ingredients, preparation and cooking, and making your own recipes. Her recipes will make you droul. She has s'mores recipes that use fruit, cookies and candy, but two things remain constant: they all use a toasted marshmallow and they all have melted chocolate. Make any of these treats at the campground and they're sure to come back for some more."My favorite s'mores are some of the simplest ones. I love the recipes with fruit, such as the Fruit Flavor Burst, Melon Refresher, and Mint-Raspberry Sophisticate. I also can't resist the Minty Brownie or Simple Mint. But it's hard to turn down a s'more in any form...as long as the chocolate is melted!"
