Guide Review - Spork
On vacation this year, my chuckbox had only four utensils: steel spatula, grill fork, steel tongs and a Spork. We do a lot of tailgate cooking on the beach. We grill mostly, but we also use a 2-burner Coleman stove to prepare side dishes. The metal utensils are for the grill, but the Spork came in handy for everything else. It had a nice grip to it and felt good in my hand. I used it to scramble eggs, and I could tell by the feel and sound that it was not harming the Teflon skillet. Heat-wise, the end that you are using as a handle never gets hot. This tool will remain in my chuckbox, but I think the weight and versatility of the Spork make it ideal for backpacks too.
On a side note, we do a lot of surf fishing and prefer to use live bait. We catch mullet in the surf with cast nets, but the Spork was the perfect tool for catching mole crabs in the sand.
