Definition: Dutch oven - A cast-iron cooking pot (with lid) that you use outdoors over charcoals. Some lids have a lip so that you can place charcoals on the top. With heat above and below, the Dutch oven actually becomes a portable baking oven. Anything you can bake at home, you can bake in a Dutch oven. The trick is to be able to control the temperature. Most Dutch oven recipes include the number of charcoals to place underneath and on top so as to approximate the baking temperature.
